MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - (July 5, 2000) - FindLaw, a pioneer and leader in the online legal information and services industry, announced today that it now offers free Internet access through an agreement with 1stUp.com Corporation (http://freeISP.findlaw.com), a leading provider of private label Internet access solutions and a majority-owned operating company of CMGI, Inc.
FindLaw now provides free, unlimited web access virtually anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. Consumers can immediately download the free Internet application from the FindLaw Web site at http://www.findlaw.com.
FindLaw's end-users receive free, unlimited Internet access in exchange for keeping 1stUp.com's compact, movable navigation bar on their screens during the free online session. This navigation bar presents users with small advertisements as well as convenient links to FindLaw and other leading Web sites.
"By adding free Internet access to FindLaw's existing collection of office tools like email, online fax, and web site hosting, we are further leveling the playing field for small firm and solo attorneys," said Jared Slosberg, FindLaw's vice president of business development. "We're pleased to be teaming with 1stUp.com to provide our users with reliable, high performance Internet access for free."
FindLaw is the latest distribution partner to implement 1stUp.com's advanced technical solution. 1stUp.com's patent-pending technology also powers the popular AltaVista Free Access, FreeLane by Excite, and Lycos Free Internet Access.
"Through our relationships with FindLaw and other leading companies, 1stUp.com is helping lead the private label Internet access movement," said Jonah Steinhart, vice president of marketing and corporate communications at 1stUp.com. "FindLaw now can take advantage of 1stUp.com's nationwide, reliable dial-up network and the 1stUp.com technology, which enables FindLaw to integrate content and branding into an impressive Internet service offering and establish a constant online connection with consumers.
