FindLaw Adds Several Prominent Columnists to Its Online Legal Magazine

Mountain View, Calif. (November 10, 2000) -- FindLaw, the pioneer and leader in online legal information and services, announced its new columnist format today in Writ, its online legal magazine.

FindLaw's Writ (http://writ.news.findlaw.com) offers original legal analysis on a variety of current events and issues, spanning law, government, politics, technology, sports and entertainment.

Starting this week, Writ highlights original legal commentary each weekday by one of its 10 prominent columnists, who are lawyers, legal scholars, former government officials and former Supreme Court law clerks. Commentary from each columnist will appear on the same day of the week, every two weeks.

This week's columns included an Election Day essay from former White House Counsel John Dean on "vanishing voters": (http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dean/20001107.html).

The other Writ columnists include

  • Bart Aronson, assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia
  • Sherry Colb, Rutgers University law professor and former Supreme Court clerk
  • Michael Dorf, Columbia University law professor and vice dean, and formerĘSupreme Court clerk
  • Joanna Grossman, Hofstra University law professor
  • Marci Hamilton, visiting professor of law at New York University and former Supreme Court clerk
  • Julie Hilden, former Williams and Connelly attorney, author, and Writ editor
  • Edward Lazarus, author, former federal prosecutor and Supreme Court clerk
  • Joanne Mariner, director of Human Rights Watch
  • Anthony Sebok, Brooklyn Law professor
"With their vast expertise and varying viewpoints, Writ columnists will deepen readers' insights into critical legal, political and social issues and events as they unfold," says FindLaw Cofounder Stacy Stern.

In addition to the new commentary, Writ unveiled its new look today, which highlights the columnist format and more closely parallels the design of the rest of the FindLaw Web site.
