West LegalEdcenter to power continuing legal education offerings on FindLaw

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. April 23, 2001 — FindLaw (www.findlaw.com), the most highly trafficked legal Web site, today launched a greatly expanded continuing legal education (CLE) center powered by West LegalEdcenterTM, the leading provider of online legal education. For the Web’s largest community of legal professionals, West LegalEdcenter provides the most comprehensive online collection of CLE courses from a growing network of accredited local, state and national content partners, as well as powerful tools that help save time and money while delivering more value to the CLE experience.

West LegalEdcenter markedly expands CLE offerings on FindLaw, bringing more than 500 hours of accredited CLE hours to a worldwide audience of attorneys and legal professionals, noted Debbie Monroe, FindLaw general manager. "The availability of West LegalEdcenter on FindLaw instantly connects the world’s most powerful collection of online CLE resources to the world’s largest online legal community," said Monroe. "And the integration also marks the latest in a series of service improvements that make good on West Group’s promise to grow FindLaw’s offerings."

In addition to taking advantage of substantial time and cost savings by participating online, West LegalEdcenter subscribers can select the CLE courses that are most relevant to their practice, ensuring more value for time spent on CLE. West LegalEdcenter delivers streaming video of live and archived CLE programs and course materials from an extensive network of local, state and national CLE producers, bar associations and professional groups. The service also indexes and tracks courses for users, files for credits and sends e-mail alerts to customers when desired programming becomes available.

West LegalEdcenter programs are linked directly to related legal documents on Westlaw®, and citations within course materials and handouts are linked to primary and analytical information on Westlaw and KeyCite®. This lets legal professionals study specific points of law in depth, enhancing the learning experience.

"Legal professionals rely on legal education to stay current with changes in the law and to law practice," said Stacy Stern, co-founder and vice president of FindLaw. "The addition of West LegalEdcenter resources to the growing range of services on FindLaw creates a powerful combination for the legal profession. Connections between CLE course materials and West Group’s online research services make West LegalEdcenter the most compelling case for online CLE."

West LegalEdcenter offers the largest online catalog of accredited continuing legal education courses from content partners including the Atlanta Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Hennepin County Bar Association (Minn.), The Maricopa County Bar Association (Ariz.), the Association of the Bar of New York City, Continue Learning Network, Glasser LegalWorks, National Practice Institute and The Rutter Group.
