The Foundation of the State Bar of California, West and FindLaw Announce Partnership
EAGAN, Minn. and SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 10, 2002 West, a Thomsonbusiness, and The Foundation of the State Bar ofCalifornia today announced an agreement whereby West will become the exclusivecorporate sponsor for legal information and related services to the membershipof the State Bar of California.
According to James Pfeiffer, executive director of the Foundation, "Thispartnership was designed to give members of the bar improved access toinformation and technologies to enable legal professionals to be moreproductive and provide superior, cost-effective service to businesses andconsumers across the state of California."
Through the agreement, West will provide members of the State Bar with acustomized Web portal created by FindLaw®, the Internet's most populardestination for comprehensive free legal information, news and analysis. Barmembers also will receive special discounts on West's legal informationresources, research technologies, law firm marketing services and onlinecontinuing legal education (CLE) via West LegalEdcenter(TM).
"Our partnership with West will give our members, particularly the smallfirms and solo practitioners, unprecedented, affordable access to theindustry's premier information and practice technologies," said RichardWalker, chairman of the Foundation's corporate sponsor committee. The "My California Bar Foundation" Web sitealso will enable users to keep a personalized calendar, search dockets fromfederal district and federal appellate courts and browse CLE offerings inCalifornia, as well as research career opportunities.
