FindLaw Selected "The Best of Reference" By The New York Public Library
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 25, 2003 FindLaw, the most-visited legal Web site according to leading independent Internet traffic monitoring services and a Thomson business (NYSE:TOC), today announced it has been selected to this year's "Best of Reference" list of The New York Public Library. Each year, a committee of reference librarians selects 25 Web sites and books based on their usefulness to local branch library reference work.
FindLaw was selected for its useful, authoritative legal information and its ability to help meet the information needs of New York City's residents. Web sites and books are chosen for their value and appropriateness for branch collections, organization of material, style of presentation and authority.
"Legal information sources such as FindLaw fill a real need in our public library setting," said Jane Fisher, coordinator, Office of Information Services, The New York Public Library. "More and more people are looking for information to help them understand how the law works. Our Best of Reference list helps bring the top reference sources to life and encourage our reference librarians to use them in assisting the public."
"We are honored and excited to be named as one of The New York Public Library's Best of Reference sources," said Stacy Stern, FindLaw vice president. "Online legal resources like FindLaw help people deal with the myriad of legal issues in their daily lives, whether it involves personal legal issues, business concerns or understanding the political and legal issues of the day. FindLaw strives to be an easily accessible, comprehensive and authoritative source of useful legal information for the public, businesses, librarians and the legal community."
