EAGAN, Minn., March 9, 2010 - Karl Florida has been named president of FindLaw, a leading provider of Web marketing solutions for small and mid-size law firms. The appointment includes oversight and management of FindLaw.com, the world's leading online legal Web site (http://www.findlaw.com) with more than 25 million visitors in 2009, according to comScore Inc., and U.K.-based solicitor referral service Contact Law. Florida succeeds Chris Kibarian, who was promoted to president, Business of Law, for Thomson Reuters, Legal.

In taking the helm at FindLaw, Florida's primary focus is delivering superior value to FindLaw.com users and to FindLaw's law firm customers.

"Our mission at FindLaw is to connect people experiencing legal issues with the attorneys who can meet their needs," said Florida. "Last year, more than twice as many consumers visited FindLaw.com as our nearest competitor - that means we're providing twice as many potential clients to law firms that market their practice through FindLaw."

Prior to assuming the role as FindLaw president, Florida was vice president of Strategy and Business Development for FindLaw. In addition, Florida has held several leadership roles within the Thomson Reuters organization, including vice president of Global Strategy for Thomson Legal & Regulatory.

Florida's industry experience includes various executive management positions at the Internet e-mail firm Return Path as well as product management roles at Netscape Communications. He also has experience managing software industry investments at the private equity firm General Atlantic Partners and led strategic consulting projects at Mercer Management Consulting.

"Karl is a proven leader and I believe he has the ideas, dedication to customer service, and the determination to drive FindLaw to new levels of excellence," said Chris Kibarian, president, Business of Law. "In today's challenging economic times, small and mid-size law firms expect more from FindLaw in helping them increase their awareness and drive prospective clients to their doors. Karl and his team have what it takes to deliver exceptional value for our customers while at the same time, continuing to ensure that FindLaw.com remains the No. 1 legal information site on the Web."

A resident of Eden Prairie, Minn., Florida received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
