FindLaw connects consumers with lawyers and the legal information they need. We accomplish this by helping law firms become more visible to consumers on the Web - through findlaw.com, the leading online destination for legal information, and through Web sites that we design, build, host and optimize for our law firm customers.
Search engine optimization is an integral component to bringing visibility to FindLaw.com and our law firm customers. FindLaw seeks to lead the legal industry in SEO and internet marketing by exclusively employing responsible SEO tactics consistent with the Internet marketing industry's best practices.
As part of our efforts, FindLaw has an SEO Advisory Board consisting of three well-known and respected search marketing industry experts including, Bill Hunt, Chris Silver Smith and Aaron Wall. The board meets on a quarterly basis with key FindLaw stakeholders to discuss industry best practices, review FindLaw's offerings and provide consulting as needed.
Considered a top thought leader on global search engine marketing and social media, Bill Hunt is an internationally recognized search marketing expert who has spoken at conferences in over 30 countries. Press, industry analysts and corporate leaders frequently seek Hunt's advice to effectively leverage enterprise and global search marketing and social media strategies.
Hunt was previously the CEO of two of the largest global search marketing firms, Global Strategies and Outrider. Hunt grew these companies to be highly respected market leaders, overseeing their global expansion, and providing strategic search marketing services for many Fortune 100 companies such as Adobe, Cisco, IBM, Intel, Nestle, P&G and Zurich Financial. Hunt is the co-author of the best-selling book, "Search Engine Marketing, Inc. Driving Traffic to Your Company's Web Site."
Hunt earned a B.A. in Asian Studies/Japanese, from the University of Maryland, Tokyo Campus, and a B.S. in International Business, from California State University, Los Angeles and is pursuing his MBA. Hunt is also a veteran of the Marine Corps.
Chris Silver Smith
Chris Silver Smith is the Director of Optimization Strategies at KeyRelevance, a boutique search marketing firm, that provides custom search marketing services to small businesses and large companies. Chris' key areas of expertise include search engine optimization, local search, mapping, internet technology, image search, shopping search optimization and social media optimization.
Chris has served as head of the Technology Department for Verizon's Superpages.com sites, leading teams focused on taxonomy, data quality, map development, co-branding, UI design and analytics. While at Verizon, Chris initiated research to maximize referral traffic from search engines as far back as 1997. This work eventually formed the foundation of extensive SEO projects for the Superpages.com sites.
Chris has worked on search optimization, social media optimization and online reputation management projects for a number of Internet Retailer 500 and Fortune 500 companies. He currently has five patents pending for local search and display technology. Chris frequently speaks at search marketing conferences and is a regular columnist for Search Engine Land. He blogs at SEM Clubhouse and NodalBits.
Lee Odden is the CEO of TopRank Online Marketing, a Minneapolis based digital marketing agency specializing in strategic internet marketing consulting, training and implementation services including: Content, Search, Email and Social Media Marketing. A 14 year veteran internet marketer, Odden has consulted for leading B2B companies including: HP, McKesson, BT, Marketo, PRWeb, StrongMail and the PRSA.
Odden has been frequently cited for his search & social media marketing expertise by leading industry and business publications including The Economist and Fortune Magazine. As an active thought leader in the search marketing industry, he has contributed to top industry publications such as Mashable, MarketingProfs and writes a column called “Social Media Smarts” for ClickZ. He also publishes one of the most popular marketing blogs on the web, TopRank’s Online Marketing Blog, recognized as a leading business blog by Advertising Age, Junta42 and Social Media Examiner, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors and nearly 50,000 subscribers.
Odden is active in the industry as an advisory board member for Search Engine Strategies and is a past board member of the Minnesota Interactive Marketing Association, DMA Social Media Advisory Council and DMA Search Engine Marketing Council.
